The Armed Forces of Germania

(OOC, I will be updating this thread periodically. This thread is for the entirety of the Germanian military).

  • Origin: Department of Defense
  • Prioriy: Low

It is with great pleasure that I announce that over the next few months, the Germanian military will undergo a myriad of changes, ranging from a complete restructure of the chain of command to the equipment our troops fight with.

The changes stem from the recent victory over pro-government forces, whereupon the need for the modernization of the military became apparent.

The more immediate changes are explained in the attached document.

Hans-Werner Fritz

Secretary of Defense

A new utility uniform has been introduced, and units currently stationed at San Salvacion will be issued the uniform in the upcoming week. The new utility uniform, in both woodland and desert patterns, can be seen below:

Woodland Flecktarn

Desert Flecktarn

The new service and dress uniforms are not slated to be introduced until early Fall of this year.

With the new uniforms, units nation-wide should expect to be issued the new M-08 Modular Rifle, which can be seen below:

M-08 Carbine

The M-08 Carbine is the baseline variant, with sharpshooter and LMG variants in development.

The handful of utility helicopters currently in service are to be retired and replaced by the multi-role NH90 "Gunny Eagle," named after the Gunny Eagle, native to Germania.

Finally, the aging fleet of light and heavy tanks are to be replaced by a single main battle tank, the Defiant 2A7+. The showcase model can be seen below.

(OOC, I realize that a lot of this stuff has the German flag and/or markings, but it can't be helped. Additionally, the Defiant 2A7+ is my own lineart. You do not have permission to copy or modify it without my permission. It is the actual Leopard tank IRL, but with a "local" designation and production).

The Department of Defense has decided to increase the number of military personnel from 15,000 to 20,000 by reinstating the First Expeditionary Regiment.

The primary mission of the First Expeditionary Regiment, also known as the 'Gamblers,' is rapid deployment during wartime. During times of peace, it will be assigned to exploration duties, scouting and scavenging beyond the borders of Germania. The First Expeditionary Regiment will be comprised of three battalions of Army and Air Force personnel.

It is the second Special Operations unit in the Germanian military, the other being the Air Force First Pararescue Group.

Effective immediately, the First Expeditionary Regiment is to be formed at Valais Air Base.

We are proud to announce that Valais Air Base has been repaired and is fully operational. Valais Air Base was one of the three that existed in Germania before the civil war, though Valais was the only one that survived partially intact.

The first sortie is expected to be carried out later tonight, wherein a squadron of fighter jets will patrol the skies above San Salvacion for the first time in months.

Additionally, any further incursions into Germanian airspace by unauthorized military aircraft of foreign designation will be ordered to either turn around or be engaged.

Wettersteinberg Komplex

Wetterstein "Weatherstone" Mountain Complex

Wetterstein Mountain Air Base - Wetterstein Mountain Command Center (WMCC)

Wetterstein Mountain

Elevation: 8,537 m (28,008 ft)

Prominence: 8,537m (28,008 ft)

Mountain Range: Schwarzgebirge (Black Mountains)

Country: Germania

State: Palatinate

District: Trier

Wetterstein Mountain is a mountain located south-east of San Salvacion, and is home to the Wetterstein Mountain Air Base and the Wetterstein Mountain Command Center, as well as the town of Landstuhl at the base of the mountain, including several historic sites, such as the Heidenfels "Heathen Rock" and Burg Wolfstein "Castle Wolfstone", both of which date further than any existing records indicate. Heidenfels was once a holy site where nearby springwater was believed to have healing powers, and evidence shows that travellers would visit the site from all over the world. Burg Wolfstein was most recently inhabited by the von Sickingen noble family three centuries before which took responsibility of protecting Landstuhl and the surrounding region. It was besieged, though it is unknown by whom, and today it is a popular tourist attraction and is currently undergoing renovations.

Wetterstein Mountain itself is currently the tallest mountain known in the world, and is a part of the Black Mountain range. While much of the mountain is government property, and as such, restricted, it still remains one of the most popular mountains for climbers, namely because those who climb the mountain face signifigant challenges to survival. The outlying region is dominated by the Palatinate Forest, which is a designated Nature Park. It is the largest forest in Germania and the centerpiece of countless legends, most famously the Palatinate Knights. The legend tells of a band of knights and their leader, Maximillian, who operated from Burg Wolfstein and led a revolt against the cruel empire that ruled over the lands, eventually freeing the people after many decades of war, though they themselves perished. As the legend goes, the spirits of Maximillian and his Palatinate Knights still roam the Palatinate Forest, and when the nation needs a hero most, they would once again emerge from the shadows to protect the weak and hunt the unjust.

Wetterstein Mountain Complex

Type: Headquarters/Operations Facility/SIGINT/Air Base

Built: N/A

In Use: N/A - Present

Current Condition: Fully Operational

Current Owner: Federal Republic of Germania

Controlled By: Germanian Armed Forces

The Wetterstein Mountain Complex is a very unusual installation. The majority of the installation is housed 700 m into the mountain, and 1000 m underground, whereas the Air Base itself is a series of tunnels at approximately 2,000 m. Aircraft land and take off at runways leading into the mountainside. An intricate system of defenses, along with the natural protection provided by the mountain, makes the Wetterstein Mountain Complex one of the most heavily defended installations in the world.

In the event of a nuclear exchange, Wetterstein Air Base has a 70% probability of continuing to function, whereas the installation situated beneath the mountain has a 100% probability of continuing to function.

Wetterstein is home to:

Department of Defense Headquarters,

Wetterstein Mountain Command Center,

Germanian Aerospace Defense Command,

Germanian Strategic Command,

Germanian Northern Command,

Emergency Operations Center.

It is a joint military organization comrpised of over 2,000 personnel from all branches of the Germanian military. However, during times of need, it is capable of housing over 15,000 military personnel and their equipment, and was designed to ensure the continuity of the government and essential operations in the event of a nuclear war or other catostrophic events. That being said, it has been likened to an underground city, and has all the necessary functions and facilities to support 20,000 personnel for up to five years. In most instances, it is self-sufficient, and is capable of producing its own food and electricity, and has acces to natural water sources.

(Will update when necessary).
