New Imperium, New Imperium, Imperial Palace

General Fleming looked at his watch. Not good. Few powers have decided to show up. Of course, several dozen of the smaller principalities, countries that rarely show up on maps, had sent dignitaries, if you can call them that, but none of the bigger more established countries decided to show up, except for the Dominate of Drakia.

General Fleming was glad that at least one of the nuclear powers had decided to show up. Soon, they will all respect us!

General Fleming looked at the large room with a semi-secure table, which in an hour or two, would be full of various representatives. He just really hated to have the entire New Imperium Army and the Imperial Guard, the fiercest and most loyal soldiers in the country, put in special dress uniforms for such a small audience. He just hoped that more countries showed up, even if there were uninvited.

"Sir, another emissary mission is about to enter our country."

"Very good, I'll go out and meet them myself."

As General Fleming went down the ornate corridors of the Imperial Palace he remembered that he forgot to ask from what country this emissary was from, and whether they were entering by ship, or by plane. Oh well, I can ask on the way.

For Monitor(Private) Jacob Hale, this was his first time outside the Dominate, therefore getting used to a world without serfs everywhere you look had taken some getting used to. Hale, in full combat gear, was stuck guarding his countries representative to this conference or party or whatever it was, but the Drakian hoped he could get some leave and go get drunk on whatever passed for booze here.

A wench or two wouldn't go astray either. Hale, as with every Citizen abroad, had to be reminded- in the strongest possible terms, that the wenc- no, women, here couldn't just be taken whenever they liked. The incredulous security team were told that any...entanglements had to be fully consensual, or else they'd be assigned to a Janissary penal Cohort for the next year. Using "derogatory" words like "feral" or "savage" were also banned.

The delegation have finished conversing and the Drakian group moved on, getting in a limo and several other vehicles. After a short ride, the group arrived at the conference building. Stepping out first, Monitor Hale observed the Imperial Army and elite Guard in full dress uniform, standing at attention on either side of the entrance. He couldn't help a chuckle. Impractical and not even close to being imposing, they had guns sure but this performance was clearly more for show than being an actual guard force. Hale preferred actual battle dress, armour, grenades machetes and face masks, but the only opinion who mattered today was the Dominate's representative.

As said rep went inside, a New Imperium officer walked up to the Monitor's CO, Decurion Reynard.

"I'm sorry, but this meeting is for the New Imperium government and foreign emissaries only. I'll have my men escort you to your quarters."

The Decurion's gas mask hid his face, but Monitor Hale sensed Reynard wasn't too thrilled at being ordered around by someone who should have a tattoo on his neck. "Just point us in the right direction, I'm sure we'll find our own way." he replied tersely.

New Imperium, New Imperium, Imperial Palace

General Fleming observed from a distance the obvious reluctance of the Dominate's security detail leaving the side of their representative. The Dominate of Drakia was in an interesting position. It had surprisingly defended the worthless country of Rodina. A country that was, until recently, thought strong and rational, was now defending a communist state. Oh, how the mighty have fallen! Public opinion of the Dominate had tanked nearly as low as Rodina itself.

General Fleming knew that the Ministries of both Foreign Affairs, and Defense were going to attempt closer military ties, perhaps even an alliance, with the Dominate of Drakia. He could almost imagine the chaos that ensued when the Dominate began sending diplomatic threats.

In any case, the New Imperium military still respected the Dominate. They were still quite dangerous and one of the few nuclear powers in the world, so caution should always be used when dealing with them.

General Fleming was disturbed from his thoughts when a lieutenant, in the distinctive black uniform of the Imperial Guard, came up to him and said, "Sir, the last of delegates have arrived."

"Very well. Our surprise will soon be unveiled."
