As a Democrat in a red state and family on both wings I hear a lot of both sides.   My thoughts on politicians in general is reflected on my PT nation by naming the party in my nation the "Babbling Idiots".   I feel that both parties are greatly flawed and that European nations have the right idea of having both capitalist and socialist ideas (and no I don't support the ones who went over board like in communist Russia, North Korea, and such but closer to the Liberal Socialist line of thought), and like with the force if you choose one or the other you are off balanced.   With that said I say a good step to fixing the global warming problem is looking at something like emissions from factories, refineries, and vehicles and saying that since we don't want to breathe it in is a good reason to find ways to clean them up, and take a look at the subsidies and if a company could do well on its own they don't need tax payer money to line their pockets and look at ear marks that for one reason was never used and take the money back into the system (both of which doesn't touch taxes so avoids that quagmire), and of course do something that will bring in massive amounts of money from sales taxes and saves money in the prisons by LEGALIZE POT!!!

Then more people smoke it, more brain damage and it'll cost more in the long run. With a sales tax there'll be a black market anyway as a sales tax is a flat tax so not everybody will be able to pay. I don't see the need to send people to jail for just possession though.

Millions smoke cigarettes and that is proven to cause lung cancer.   If you don't want to smoke pot you don't have to but when I was in Colorado a few weeks ago (visiting friends and it was only about 90 miles away which in the western states isn't that far) there were people who didn't like the new law but for the most part it was a live and let live attitude without society falling apart because a bunch of stoners legally smoked pot.

Yes, because of labor value.

Exchange value would vanish along with trade. Use value remains the same. Bread will fill me up just as much tomorrow as it will today. Labor value will have diminished as the means of production improved. However, it will always take more labor to produce some items than others. This means that, for instance, 10 cars will be worth more than 10 bolts of canvas.

I guess I'm still confused, then, by the assertion that cost wouldn't be an issue.

Legalizing Hemp would be an amazing boon to the world. It shows signs of being able to "absorb" radiation as it's being used in Chernobyl and help an estimated "$250-$500 billion" costing Fukushima disaster that could transport radiation to the West Coast and increase cancer rates. Furthermore it can help the environment which currently in the condition it is causes further respiratory illnesses costing the US government and it's people,

"... in 2000, total annual costs were in excess of US$ 32 billion..." [source page 29]

This is not pot this is Hemp, Industrial Hemp, it could theoretically save the US billions, do the research yourself to see as I don't want to derail the topic.

Also I view marxist ideas as theoretically impossible to implement, as the government would have to theoretically be implemented world wide, which would require worldwide support, which it will never have in historically capitalist countries and countries that have been through red scares due to the cold war. Red is the threat in Capitalism.
